NYU Florence seeks applicants for a part time assistant position (30 hours per week)
The part time assistant works closely with the the Office or Academic Support Team
(Assistant Director of Academic Affairs, Academic Advisor, Trip Coordinator, Library
Coordinator, Community Engagement Leadership Development Coordinator, Reception
Assistants and the approximately 55 instructors and approx. 270-320 students each
semester. The part time assistant would help in the efficient day to day running of the
Academic Support Office, Staff the Reading Room evening hours and would
accompany, where needed, on field trips and site visits and Community Engagement projects.
Familiarity with American Higher Education Institutions and their best practices for working with students who study abroad. Has participated in a study abroad program as a graduate or undergraduate student. Has had work experience in both Italian and English speaking customer service environments.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to have C2 or better language ability in both spoken and written Italian and English, Able to use the Google Suite of applications (Forms, Doc, Slides, Drive, Gmail, etc), as well as the Microsoft Office suite of business programs (Excel, MSWord, PPT etc). Excellent organizational skills and time management, willingness to work as a team player and to serve as a leadership figure in a variety of capacities for undergraduate students.
Preferred Experience, Skills and Abilities:
Has worked with American Higher Education Institutions, has a client service background
Serve as the first point of contact for students and faculty visiting the Office of
Academic Support and the Villa Ulivi Library by responding to student questions
regarding general academic policies and making referrals as needed.
Assist in the creation, editing or translation of multi media materials for presentations
on social media or websites. Specifically, updating the Faculty & Staff Resource GSite
and posting announcements via social media or email for faculty, staff and students.
Assists with the listing of courses pre-semester through the on line platform of ALBERT.
Prepares class rosters and review enrollment information each semester through the
on line platform UDW+.
Assists with the preparation of the classroom schedule pre-semester.
Coordinate the calendar of academic accommodations provided for students who are
registered with the Henry and Lucy Moses Center at NYU.
Organize and at times proctor make up exams as needed.
May be asked to assist on academic field trips, site visits and at program events
throughout the academic year.
Assist the Librarian in the inventory and cataloging of library acquisitions.
Working evening and weekend hours will be required.
Serve as a mentor to student learning interns completing site specific projects for the
Office of Academic Support.
