  • Position Summary

    This is a full-time, permanent post reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions in NYU Abu Dhabi, with accountability to the Director of NYU London. The position is located at NYU London. The post holder will market NYU Abu Dhabi and will conduct outreach, relationship building, follow-up, and data capture activities for the UK and other assigned territories within Western Europe. The post holder will play a strategic role in recognizing the vision of NYU Abu Dhabi and New York University by fostering strong relationships with target schools and audiences within the UK and Western Europe. The post holder will partner with the Associate Director of Admissions to develop admissions strategies in order to meet the University's recruitment and enrolment goals.

    This position travels throughout the year and extensively to schools, fairs, and universities, and counsels students in various phases of applicant process. Additionally, this position makes multiple trips to NYU’s Abu Dhabi and New York campuses each year, and may also travel to NYU’s Shanghai campus.


    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    • In partnership with the Associate Director, plan and execute overall outreach strategy in the UK and assigned territories within Western Europe, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities.
    • Represent NYU Abu Dhabi, and where appropriate New York University’s three campuses, to prospective students at on-campus and off-campus recruitment events (school visits, college fairs, open houses, receptions, information sessions).
    • Develop and cultivate positive and productive relationships with students, parents and secondary school counselors with the goal of promoting serious interest in NYU Abu Dhabi by highly qualified students, strategically growing nomination and application pools.
    • Advise students, parents, and secondary school counselors on the application process, university programs, academic requirements, financial support, housing, and other student services.
    • Serve as a liaison between students, parents, and secondary school counselors in assigned territories, and the appropriate admission representatives for NYU’s campuses in New York and Shanghai.
    • Manage a robust counselor relations program through which secondary school counselors gain additional exposure to information about NYU Abu Dhabi, in some cases including an opportunity to travel to NYU Abu Dhabi for a campus visit. Coordinate, attend, and present at regional outreach events for both NYU Abu Dhabi and New York University’s three campuses. Arrange and participate in special events that include participation of university/admissions leadership.
    • Develop a detailed outreach budget in partnership with the Associate Director. Coordinate the processing of payment requests for fairs and conferences, and other activities related to outreach. Provide financial tracking for expenses incurred for events and travel, including completion of travel expense reports.
    • Continually assess effectiveness of outreach in key European markets and recommend appropriate adjustments to recruitment strategy. Make recommendations to leadership with regard to new initiatives, territories, and strategies.
    • Provide regular and ad-hoc reports on recruitment activities, including number and type of events organized/attended; number and type of students, parents, school officials, etc. contacted. Use a combination of Microsoft Office applications and web-based applications for these reports.
    • Actively serve as key member of the NYU Abu Dhabi admissions committee. Review, complete, and evaluate students' applications for admission. Make recommendations for admission decisions, or refer applicants to admissions committee for further consideration. Assist with on-campus admission events and off-campus yield events as needed.
    • Develop or maintain high level of expertise on international education systems within assigned territories. Provide assistance to NYU’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions to assist with understanding application documentation submitted that is unique to that region or country.
    • Assist NYU Abu Dhabi Admissions, and Director of NYUL as required

    Requirements for this position:

    • 3-5 years of relevant professional level experience in an admissions office or equivalent combination. Must include experience with advising, teaching or counselling. 
    • Educated to minimum of Bachelor’s degree level.
    • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills.
    • Ability to market NYU Abu Dhabi independently and knowledgeably, providing an understanding of liberal arts education to an audience that is unfamiliar with the model.
    • Ability to travel to the U.S., Abu Dhabi and extensively within designated world region. Extensive travel during fall and spring and weekend hours required.
    • Experience and ability with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

    Preferences for this position:

    • Knowledge and understanding of U.S. Higher Education.
    • Knowledge and understanding of international education systems and qualifications.
    • Experience of building and maintaining strong relationships with a range of external organisations.
    • Ability to speak one or more European languages, preferably French.
