  • Position Summary

    This is a full-time, renewable 3-year post reporting to the Assistant Director for Academic Affairs. The post-holder will support the academic mission of NYU London, with specific responsibilities for the Business, Political Economy, and Entrepreneurship programme at the site, providing specialist support to the undergraduate cohort (usually around 130 students per semester) taking NYUL courses in these areas.  The post-holder will also act as point-person for NYUL lecturers teaching these courses and faculty colleagues and administrators at NYU Stern School of Business and other departments, schools and programmes at NYU's portal campuses in New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai that sponsor and support courses in Business, Political Economy, and Entrepreneurship.  In addition, the post holder will develop and administer co-curricular programming and events, and carry a teaching load of two courses per semester.


    Principal Duties and Responsibilities:


    Teaching 40%


    • Normally, teach two courses in the NYUL programme in the Fall semester and two courses in the Spring semester, as agreed with the Director

    Administrative Liaising 30%

    • Serve as a liaison between NYUL, the Office of Global Programs, the NYU Stern School of Business and all NYU departments, schools and programmes in NYU-NY, NYUAD and NYUSH to ensure that academic initiatives, principles and concerns in Business, Political Economy and Entrepreneurship and contiguous areas are communicated effectively across sites
    • Play a lead role in working with the entities mentioned above to introduce new courses, programmes, and internship activities in Business, Political Economy and Entrepreneurship at NYU London
    • Coordinate the recruitment of new faculty in Business, Political Economy and Entrepreneurship, including onboarding and any ongoing training needs or support
    • Participate in on-going assessment of the programme and coordination of faculty development for NYUL lecturers teaching courses in the programme and contiguous areas
    • Play the lead role in the liaisons with EUSA, our internship provider, the Office of Global Programs and NYUL to develop and support all student internships in the areas of Business, Political Economy and Entrepreneurship


    Student and Departmental Support 30%


    • Work with NYUL staff to design and implement co-curricular activities for the undergraduate cohort in Business, Political Economy and Entrepreneurship
    • Offer advising for undergraduates, including late-August orientation and preparation for return to New York
    • Provide advice and guidance to faculty about academic policies and procedures
    • Participate in student orientations
    • Assist the Assistant Director for Academic Affairs and the Director with faculty evaluations and feedback
    • Help to ensure the appropriate maintenance of academic records with reference to FERPA and data protection requirements
    • Manage the maintenance of records of grades, attendance, class offerings, etc. according to correct procedures
    • Organize, and provide support for, on-site functions and meetings, including twice-a-semester evening faculty meetings, as required
    • Manage room allocations and bookings; ensuring up-to-date knowledge on NYU’s 25Live room booking system
    • Contribute to the strategic development of the Business, Political Economy and Entrepreneurship programme
    • Liaise with local and visiting NYU alumni in Business, Political Economy, and Entrepreneurship to foster classroom visits, talk programmes and internship opportunities
    • Other supporting requirements as assigned by the Assistant Director or as required by the Director


    Requirements for this post:

    • Educated to PhD level, or equivalent, in any of the following fields: Economics; Politics; Political Economy; Accounting; Finance; Marketing; Management and Organisations; Law, Business and Society
    • Relevant teaching experience, particularly with diverse American and international student populations
    • Prior experience mentoring faculty
    • Experience in coordinating or overseeing administrative projects in a university setting
    • Strong organisational ability and keen attention to detail
    • Be willing to work on his/her own initiative with little supervision
    • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and comfort working with both students and faculty
    • Be enthusiastic, pro-active and committed, and enjoy working in a small team
    • Computer literate with good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
    • Excellent written & oral skills
