Position Summary

NYU Madrid is looking for candidates to take on the role of Housing Assistant (HA) as part of the Student Life department, a team dedicated to all aspects of the student experience abroad beyond the classroom.

 

The position involves managing “Res Life”, the student residential life experience at NYU Madrid. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: organizing cultural activities, coordinating events, assisting with trips, and serving as a liaison between the student residences and NYU Madrid staff.

 

The candidate will manage the NYU community within the residence, responding to possible emergencies and upholding the university's standards regarding student behavior, inclusion, and community building.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Foster a learning and growth environment that promotes individual and group development among students.
  • Assist in planning and executing student activities, both within the residence and beyond, as well as on NYU-organized trips.
  • Act as a mentor and role model for students throughout their stay in Madrid.
  • Serve as a point of contact with the student residence, managing residential life issues.
  • Act as a resource for students in emergency situations.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and the emergency phone rotation system (one week out of every four).


Requirements & Preferred Qualifications

  • Legal authorization to work in Spain.
  • Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken).
  • Experience in event planning and management.
  • Experience in group management and leadership (preferably with students).
  • Familiarity with Madrid and its cultural offerings.
  • We are looking for a proactive, problem-solving individual who can manage multiple tasks effectively and is tech-savvy.

Schedule (Alternating weekly shifts - 100% in person)

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 6 PM – 11 PM
  • Tuesday and Thursday: 6 PM – 11 PM and Saturday and Sunday: 4 PM – 11 PM

Additional Information

Must possess eligibility to work in Spain (or EU).
